Meet
Dr. Lopez: Dr. Fred Lopez is an infectious disease
specialist who is currently Associate Professor and Vice Chair
in the Department of Medicine at the Louisiana State University
Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Dr. Lopez was born
and raised in New Orleans before moving to northern California
and obtaining an undergraduate degree in Human Biology at
Stanford University. He received his graduate degree in medicine
from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he was
a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and
then returned to Stanford University where he was an intern,
resident and chief resident in Internal Medicine and a fellow
in Infectious Diseases.
He is on the editorial board of several medical journals and
has written more than 100 journal articles, chapters, and
abstracts, many of them addressing his area of clinical interest,
the syndrome of fever and rash. He is also co-editor of a
McGraw-Hill textbook entitled, Infectious Diseases: Emergency
Department Diagnosis & Management.
